Outlining in running stitch – I use three methods to transfer designs onto fabric depending on the embroidery. Prick and pounce (where a paper design is pricked with holes and then has chalk or charcoal rubbed on to transfer the designs) I use for small, simple designs. I draw directly onto fabric with pencil for larger or more complex designs when the lines will be completely covered by stitch. The outline in running stitch method I have used here is for when I want the embroidery to be more free form and sketch like, the running stitches are unpicked as I work with more permanent embroidery stitches.
