Writing

What is it to write something down? It’s a fixing of an idea – but I worry that my writing rambles. I can never seem to get a solid fix on my thinking, the problem to me is that it seems so SLOW – by the time I’ve captured the thought I’m already several more ahead of myself. Perhaps I should try to dictate? Talking, while not quite as fast as thinking, is certainly quicker than writing – plus a lot less awful illegible handwriting and abhorrent spelling (why did I never get the hang of spelling?)
Having said that, perhaps the act of physically writing with a pen in a notebook is a useful slowing down process? It may actually be helpful to slow down my thinking pace, give myself a chance to consider the thought I’m trying to articulate – like properly looking when drawing. Perhaps, in writing, I can give myself the space to examine the idea more thoroughly…
