Hand/Eye Coordination

I enjoy the methodical process of stitching by hand and the state of concentrated immersion it induces – what is described by psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi as ‘flow’.

I have been exploring process, skill and tacit knowledge through performance work, by physically restricting myself to tactile sense only (blindfolding myself) I have been forced to reassess the the gestures and actions that come naturally to me and consider the relationship between different senses when engaged in practical tasks.
